Here's a little more about myself and how I got started raising puppies for CCI.

In the early 1990's I lived in Southern California, near Del Mar.
At the time I was in involved in riding, showing my horse in
Dressage. Through my horse friends I was introduced to a amazing facility called the Helen Woodward Animal Center located near Fairbanks Ranch. At the Facility there was a small Non-Profit call Canine Companions for Independence temporarily being housed until their new campus was ready in Oceanside.

Around the same time I was working with a dog trainer who knew about CCI and told me more about it. The one main thing I remember was that they were looking for volunteers to help raise their puppies! Puppies? I LOVE Puppies! Well that got the gears turning in my head and I made it a goal to become a Puppy Raiser someday. As you can see it took me over 10 years to meet that goal, but it was well worth the wait!

  1. So fun to be following your blog; I too just turned in my 5th puppy for CCI. It is quite addicting. Funny I did not know you when you lived in Del Mar - had you been in CCI then, perhaps we would have! You may view my blog at lovetailwags.blogspot.com All the best with Pup #6; I'm waiting to see how my Francie does in AT.
